Clear or Knotty Alder are relatively soft hardwoods of medium density.

Clear: Pin knots are allowed in the grade. Alder is not as hard as a Maple but the superior grade provides a beautiful smooth grain on both sides. The color is white and consistent through the board.

Knotty: This allows mineral streak in the grade as well as open knots.   Not all colors are available on Knotty Alder.
